Roberts confirmed amongst Paralympic heroes attending celebration
Wales’s multiple Gold medal-winning Paralympic Champion David Roberts is amongst the athletes who have confirmed that they will be attending Monday’s Paralympic homecoming at the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay on Monday.
The Pontypridd torpedo is just one of a number of Paralympic athletes, including Milford Haven’s Rachel Morris, Newport’s Liz Johnson and Cwmbran’s Gareth Duke, who will be greeted by Sports Minister Alun Ffred Jones on the Senedd steps as part of the public celebration of their achievements.
School children from many different parts of Wales have been invited to the event, which begins at 12 noon and will feature a steel band, a choir and a procession led by a Chinese lion. TV presenter Angharad Mair will host the celebration.
Alun Ffred Jones said: “Our Paralympic athletes have performed fantastically well in Beijing and I’m pleased that we’re providing a fitting recognition of how well they have done. I hope that the Welsh public will come along in their droves to the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to join the school children who will be there to celebrate their achievements.”
