On Sunday December 6th, the Federation Disability Sport Wales ran a disability cycling taster day at the Wales National Velodrome in Newport.

The event was a major sucess with seventeen new athletes trying cycling for the first time, with the youngest rider only 8 years old.

It was also unique in that it managed to attract potential new athletes in all the major Paralympic classifications.

Disability Sport Wales Performance Cycling Coach, Neil Smith commented, “it’s always exciting to see new talent and today was no exception. We have had a very succesful day and I am really looking forward to working with this new talent in 2010”.

One of the most popular disciplines during the day was handcycling, as the athletes enjoyed the experience of trying the sport in the unusual indoor surroundings.
