Keryn on VI Football
On the final day of the 2008 Paralympic Games, Bridgend’s Keryn Seal is looking ahead to London 2012 after finishing fifth in the five-a-side football.
Britain’s blind and visually impaired team won their final match in Beijing today, beating Korea on penalties to finish fifth overall at their first ever Paralympic Games.
Britain came back from a goal down to snatch an equaliser in the 48th minute that pushed the game into a penalty shoot out. Goalkeeper Dan James had already saved four penalties from Korea’s Kyung-Ho Kim during the game, and he stopped another two in the tie-breaker.
“When the game went to penalties we had every confidence because Dan had been saving penalties all game,” said winger Seal.
“We had to show a lot of heart to come back from 1-0 down. We fought back to win which was important for us. We came here with high hopes of achieving something and we didn’t want to come away with the wooden spoon.
