GB Boccia Confirmation Squad announced

Wales sees a strong congingent move to the next phase of the GB Boccia Fast Track Talent programme. In addition to the 3 players named today onto the Fast Track Confirmation Programme, James Bailey (Cardiff) Jacob Thomas (Pembroke) and Kathryn Jones (Caerphilly). Also named on the GB Elite Programme is Karl Parrish – pictured – from Chepstow.

GB Boccia has now completed the Paralympic Potential World Class Talent Search and has named the players selected to move forward into the 2012 Confirmation Squad. This group of players will have been through Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 Testing; provisional Fast Track Squads and Home Country scrutiny to beat almost fifty players to reach the Confirmation Camps.

Nine additional players have been picked to enter the Confirmation Period with the expectation of a further reduction in numbers after this period and final selection into the GB Boccia 2012 Fast Track Talent Squad taking place after the British Championships in October. The selected players are:

James Clowes – BC2
Lewis McConnell – BC2
Joshua Rowe – BC2
James Bailey – BC3
Tom Dowan – BC3
Kathryn Jones – BC3
Jess Hunter – BC3
Jacob Thomas – BC3
Jamie Docherty – BC4

These players will be engaged in a series of Camps and Competitions through April and May:

April 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th at the University of Bath
April 17th and 18th at the University of Bath
April 23rd to 25th at the Czech Open – Prague (not necessarily for all)
May 8th and 9th at the University of Bath
May 22nd and 23rd at the University of Bath
May 29th, 30th and 31st at the University of Bath

Craig Johnson and Karl Parrish have been invited to train with the GB Elite squad.
