Elite Athletes Descend on Cardiff, Newport and Swansea for the UK School Games 2009

Over 1600 elite young athletes will descend on Cardiff, Newport and Swansea this week to take part in the largest multi-sport event in Wales since the Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1958!

The UK School Games is a unique multi-sport event for elite athletes of school age designed to replicate the feel of a major event such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Games will begin with a FREE Opening Ceremony in Roald Dahl Plass (Oval Basin) in Cardiff Bay on Thursday 3rd September (8.30 – 9.30pm). The Opening Ceremony will feature an athlete parade, interviews with stars of the sporting world and live enterainment. The general public are encouraged to attend what promises to be spectacular event.

The sporting action begins on Friday the 4th September 2009 when athletes will be competitng in 10 different sports in venues throughout Cardiff, Newport and Swansea and concludes on Sunday 6th September. Tickets are still available, please visit www.ukschoolgames.com/home for more information.
