BOCCIA WALES NORTH WALES REGIONAL COMPETITION

The first ever North Wales Regional Boccia Competition was held at Prestatyn Leisure Centre on Saturday 18th April, run by Boccia Wales in conjunction with Disability Sport Wales.

The competition was run with mixed classes taking on each other, and those topping the pools progressing on to the Semi Finals and Finals.

A strong team from Cil Dragons in Gwynedd, pitted their skills against others across North Wales, and two of their members, Ashley leCras and Robert Jones fought through to the Semi finals, where they met Academy members and GB Squad members, Gareth Stafford (Wrexham) and Andrew Williams (Mold) – pictured.

A tight game in each Semi Final was played out, with the experience of the Academy guys shining through to see Gareth and Andrew progress through to the Final.

In the final Andrew beat Gareth 3 – 2 over the 4 ends to take the crown of North Wales Regional Champion. Both will progress to the Boccia Wales National Championships to be held in Cardiff on May 2nd. Joining them will be the 3rd & 4th players, Ashley and Robert.

Thanks goes to Competition Organisers, Donna Evans and Stacy Norcross, Disability Sport Wales Officers in North Wales.
