Kate was a swimmer for GB from 2002 before she began athletics at 18 years old.
In 2003 Kate won Newport’s Disabled Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Kates proudest moment was in 2006 when she qualified for the swimming world champs in Durban.
This year Kate began training for athletics and achieved a national record on her debut for the 100m sprint.
Kate Arnold is a name to note. Though still classed as a junior, she will be competing against seniors at Pan-Chiao Stadium. The Newport athlete, who turns 19 at the beginning of September, is also an accomplished swimmer. She finished seventh in the 100m SB8 breaststroke at her first major world event – the 2006 IPC World Championships in Durban.
