Jim Munkley MBE
Jim Munkley has been involved with disability sport since 1969 when he passed some courses in Table Tennis and his career began to develop. Jim trained hard for his sport to improve his skills more and in 1970 Jim represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh; where he brought gold and silver medals home to Wales.
In 1974, Jim went on to competed in the Commonwealth Games in New Zealand and has represented GB at both European & World Table Tennis Championships as well as the Paralympics.
In 1999 Jim was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace to reflect his achievements in Table Tennis. More recently Jim has joined DSW a director. During the last few years, Jim has become a qualified Table Tennis coach and was selected to coach our Welsh EAD Table Tennis Players at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester 2002 and more recently Melbourne 2006.
As well as Jim’s commitment to DSW and Table Tennis, Jim has been the Chairman of the Welsh Paraplegic and Tetraplegic Sports Asssociation since 1989.
In his spare time Jim enjoys supporting the Welsh Rugby Team in the Six Nations.
