International Paralympic Committee

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games, and serves as the International Federation for nine sports, for which it supervises and co-ordinates the World Championships and other competitions. The IPC is committed to enabling Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and to developing sport opportunities for all persons with a disability from the beginner to elite level. In addition, the IPC aims to promote the Paralympic values, which include courage, determination, inspiration and equality.

Inas is the International Federation (IOSD) for athletes with an intellectual disability. It is a global organisation that promotes inclusion and is a full member of the International Paralympic Committee representing intellectual disability. The Inas vision is for a World where people with an intellectual disability can enjoy sport to the highest possible level. They manage an annual programme of more than 15 Regional and World Championship competitions working closely with the International Federations for sport, maintain Regional and World records/rankings, and manage the eligibility and classification process for athletes with an intellectual disability. Inas was formed in 1985 and has grown to a membership of more than 50 nations across the World, representing many thousands of athletes with an intellectual disability.

International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation IWAS - Having gone through the full circle of revolution, change and innovation in its 58 year history to date IWAS’ role in the Paralympic Movement has never been stronger than today. It has been heavily motivated by the requirements of IWAS member nations and their athletes and the need to maintain pace with outside influences. They focus on the goals of the Paralympic movement, and as such IWAS provides distinct athlete pathways through provision of IWAS Games programmes, both World and Junior, as recognised steps towards Paralympic Games qualification across a variety of sports. IWAS develops sports to Paralympic programme standard and in that situation provides IPC with the resource to put on those sports at the Paralympic Games under our sports’ rules and regulations. IWAS works in concert with, and complementary to, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and its sports, as well as other International Federations.

Cerebral Palsy International Sport and Receation Association CPISRA - As an organisation CPISRA enhance the opportunities for people to access sport and to participate in the particular sport or leisure activity of their choosing. While CPISRA works mainly on behalf of those who have Cerebral Palsy or a related neurological condition, in the sport of Boccia, through BC4 players, people with other specific conditions can participate.

International Blind Sports Federation IBSA is registered as a non-profit making, public interest body in Spain who are full members of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), where they are the legitimate representatives of sport for the blind.

IBSA's status allows them to provide our movement with a unique identity in order to further develop and promote sports for the blind and visually impaired. IBSA are also committed to providing assistance to our national member organisations in all five continents, especially those organisations in developing countries which have to date been unable to spread the word about blind sports sufficiently within their countries and do not have an established school sports programme for the blind, local and national competition programme, etc.
